Static IP adress?

It seems i have a changeing IP adress with my cable modem, is there anyway a can get a static IP adress,

it depends on your provider, i doubt they will do it for you unless there is a need, i know one isp that is cable that assigns all static ips, dont really know why they put themselves thru it but o well

most ISP's doesnt provide static IP for home use .. but anyway call your ISP they will tell you more

Why would you need a static IP

with free services that allow you to use a hostname to connect to your dynamic IP address, there's hardly a need for a static....except of course if you want to use Novell's Border Manager's VPN services...then you need a static IP. I haven't check out their latest release to see if they have taken out that necessity.
