OMG! I officially hate Abercrombie and Fitch!!!
Those stupid motherf****** b*****d. I want to kick their @$$. Why? Because they made some "racist" T-shirts. It was all about Asians like one shirt had two men with slanted eyes wearing triangular hats. The slogan: "Wong Brothers Laundry Service: Two Wongs can make it white." What the hell is that? Some of you guys might not care but I do. I'm Asian and I find that offensive.

Oh, no! somebody made a pun!
you seen the communith college team mascot on an indian reservation in colo. " the fighting whities " I'm white. I find that funny.
If somebody had a shirt that said "Smith brothers laundry service...etc" I wouldn't take offense. I;d go "good job ye pun maker"
P.C. == Teh B.S.

Its offensive, but most people don't see it that way. For some reason, African Americans or people with different ethnic backgrounds are seen as more..."American" than Asian Americans.
I was at Starbucks once and the guy ahead of me was Asian. He placed his order, and the ******* behind the counter said something stupid like "Chop suey! You English is velly good!". I gotta give the guy props for not jumping over the counter and shoving a mocca up his @$$.
Anyway, I hadn't seen the shirts before, but I'm glad AF took them down (although they should've been smart enough not to do it in the first place).

like I said... if someone made a pun about white folk, I wouldn't have problem. You don't like it? you don't buy the shirt. Protests? c'monOriginally posted by BIGJIMSLATE
Its...a little different. Its about the same as if an African American were to complain about a NATIONAL RETAILER selling shirts with a guy in blackface saying something like "Ya like da fried chicken?!"![]()

a computer friend of mine, black guy, use to work with us in the data center, he would always call me Whitie lol
it didn't bother me, he was always makin jokes when he had to lift a computer, or move a box or something sayin "yeah typical opression our people went through" bla bla, he was just jokin of course, but it never bothered me, cause i made jokes right back hahahahah
PC does = teh BS
don't fall into it
take it like a man and take it outside and settle it

Well hold on, you have a problem with people protesting something they don't like? What else do you expect someone to do if they're offended (whether you agree with them or not) by something like this?Originally posted by Qwijib0

And yeah, like I had said in an earlier thread, whites are probably the biggest group who people can make racial jokes or puns about and get away with. There's no problem calling someone "whitey" (ie, Brent's post), but if Brent were to call him a nig*er, all hell would break loose.
Again, I'm not saying I agree with most PC bull (since most of it IS bull), but some things do cross a line, and I believe this is one of them (even if I am whiter than Conan O'Brien).

yeah, that's trueOriginally posted by BIGJIMSLATE

see, he called me Whitey in front of other people, and that was fine, no one thought twice about it....
but if i were to call him the N word, even just joking like he was, boy I tell ya I woullda been on my ass and fired probably!

LOGIZOMECHANOPHOBIA
I don't mean to go off on a further thangent, but this is the article I was referring to.
White Like Me
Look how white I am. Am I lame or what? Can't jump. Can't dance. Can't run. Can't dress. Can't hang.
It's O.K. I know I'm a pathetic White Guy. I'm at peace with it. In fact I laugh about it all the time. I have to. Black athletes today love to make fun of us White Guys.
Last week, for instance, boxer Mike Tyson had a little fun with white reporter Mark Malinowski at Tyson's press conference-cage match with Lennox Lewis. Grabbing his crotch and using his best prison vocabulary, Tyson challenged Malinowski to fight and then accused him of being "scared like a little white p----" because he wouldn't. In American trash talk today that's three put-downs in a row. Little. White. And p----.
Now if a white heavyweight grabbed his crotch and called a black reporter a "little black p----," he'd be spending the rest of his days playing Parcheesi with Al Campanis and Dan Issel. Nobody, though, demanded that Tyson apologize to Malinowski, least of all Malinowski.
Not to worry, it's cool! Last season Toronto Raptors star Vince Carter came onto the court to discover he was being covered by the Minnesota Timberwolves' Wally Szczerbiak. Carter turned to the Minnesota bench with a smile and said, according to Szczerbiak, "You better get this white guy off me, or I'm going to score 40." (Carter denies referring to Szczerbiak's race.)
Was Carter fined? Suspended? Ordered to spend six weeks in a white-sensitivity workshop? Nah. We're White Guys. What are we going to do, sue?
Sometimes we're not even White Guys. We're White Boys. In his book Shaq Talks Back, Shaquille O'Neal wrote, "If you get dunked on by a white boy, you got to come home to your friends and hear it."
Hilarious! Of course it wouldn't be nearly as funny if, say, David Stern wrote in his book, "If you get outnegotiated by a black boy, you got to go to the country club and hear it." He'd be taped naked to the hood of Jesse Jackson's car. Still, was Shaq rocked by scandal? Did principals pull the book out of school libraries? Nah. Because all us crackers know it's true! If we dunk on you, you really suck!
Besides, anytime you can slip in the phrase white boy these days, it's just damn funny. Now, if you called Jerry Rice a "black boy" or Ichiro Suzuki a "yellow boy" or Notah Begay a "red boy," you'd be begging spare change at a bus station inside a week. But it's fine. We're the last unprotected race, so bash away!
Some White Guys aren't sure it's all that amusing, like Denver Nuggets forward Raef LaFrentz. "When people call me 'white boy,' I take it as an insult," he says. "It's a negative racial term, just like the n word." However, Dallas Mavericks guard Steve Nash says he finds it funny when black guys tell him, "You're pretty good for a white boy."
"Besides," Nash says, "it's pretty accurate, right?"
See, we White Guys know we suck. We hear it all the time. When we hoop, we've got White Man's Disease. When we dance, we've got White Man's Overbite. When we jam, we're just Average White Band. We know if Larry Bird were black, he'd be, as Isiah Thomas said, "just another guy." We know we're supposed to giggle when Charles Barkley says, "See? This is what I hate about white people." He's right! We're all exactly the same!
When ESPN debuted its terrific new talk show, Pardon the Interruption, the preview ads promised it "wasn't pretty." To prove it, host Tony Kornheiser said, "We're old. We're fat. We're bald. And we're white." Then his partner Michael Wilbon, who is black, said, "And one of us is blind." Poor Tony. He's got the big four strikes against him right there. Old. Fat. Bald. And white. Hey, the truth hurts.
We White Guys have faced it. We're wack at most everything. Basically the only thing we dominate now is stuff black people don't have the right clothes to try -- lumberjack contests and luge. But we shred documents like nobody's damn business!
We're not mad. We've come to grips with it. Even when we do something good -- like the three white firemen who raised the U.S. flag at ground zero -- we understand you have to change two of the guys' race to nonwhite when you want to build the statue. Who wants three White Guys hanging around forever?
What, you thought White Guys had feelings?

I can see how it may be stereotypical but, I see nothing racist about it. It's a funny shirt.Originally posted by 64bit
Plus this isn't "just a pun". The whole Laundry thing is a very typical stereotype against asians. It would be like a shirt with a Chicken&Waffle house and some blacks on it, or a Bar and Some irish or a pizza shop and some italians etc. etc.
damn, finally a reason to by and A$F shirt
However, I can see both sides. It's easy to find something funny that doesn't offend you. And easy to fly off the handle when something offends you. Especially when others find it funny.
RoundEyes observation however pisses me off. I was told I was hung like a white boy. Thats not a compliment

If a shirt came out that had a black dude moppin the floor and the shirt said "eye's is clean under this here shirt" that would be racist no? Same Basic thing.Originally posted by mikemean

She's presenting like a mandrill!
I don't give a flying **** about what A&F makes. Wanna know why?
Political Correctness sucks ass anyway.
Please note: or abridging the freedom of speech. It may have been tasteless, but they can still say it.Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Political Correctness sucks ass anyway.
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!
I'm not saying they CAN'T say it, and neither did the government. A company produced a shirt, a group complained, and the company decided to pull the shirts in order to avoid the bad publicity or loss of sales that a protest could cause.Originally posted by Paft

Sure, I'm not saying it should be ILLEGAL to say something like that, but its hardly appropriate for a store that caters to the mainstream teen crowd. I don't see GAP making any "Greasy Wop" shirts even if they can. I think the point was that it was a national retailer doing this and not some small offbeat t-shirt shop.

..........ok even if this post has flown the coup.....
I hate people who protest...because those are the people that protest about EVERYTHING...one weeks its an A&F tshirt and next week its the fact that some dogs have one blue eye and one green....they get all bent out of shape for nothing.
Ive seen some really bad shirst come from A&F and whats funny is the only one that gets pulled is the one with an asian. yes I know its not right to stereotype (heh...rhymed) however...everyone else does it about other races...and its not like they made fun of asians....they said they did their job well..."...can make it white."
anyway....its funny how any other race can get away with something like that except the whites....now had fubu put that out it would have been alright...but since a white company did it...its the devil...every rapper (and I like rap) talks about killin people and selling/doing drugs...slappin h0es and drinkin sex etc etc etc. but the first time eminem says something like that the protestors scream... HES SETTING A BAD EXAMPLE...lol...ok...fact is that half the stuff he said he never did....however go on the other side of things..and most of the rappers are popularizing things they DO...its weird how freedom of speech applies to only soo much.
so a black person can make fun of white people on BET a BLACK channel...but the first time a WHITE person makes funof a BLACK person on a WHITE channel and theyre racist....call em the KKK
hell we cant even have an all white show before someone complains that there arent any other races in it...yet a black show gets away with it just fine. I have asian friends...and Ive seen a lot go on in my school...and I have to say from the grand scheme of things....racial slurs break down like this.
MADE FUN OF MOST:
Whites
then blacks
then asians
then indians/arabians (from asia), maybe more now since 9.11
then N americans
etc etc etc
its funny how I can get in line for something and watch someone cut in front of me and listen to them say "oh hes just a white boy, who cares" but they are the same people that would sue me for a million dollars if I talked about them or try to scam money out of ME for something early americans did with blacks a long time ago...I dont owe Slave descendants a damn DIME...hell my ancestors didnt even live here then...plus its not like this generation did it.
as for the tshirt....I wouldnt be offended by it...Id take it in stride and laugh it off....it wasnt bad and it wasnt degrading...hell...laundry services make a lot of money...that and the fact that worse could be said....it was just a lil fun poking...
hell....make it a white thing or something....
Modelewski bros.
us polish people cant rhyme.
(yes Im polish..only half though and no thats not my name)
anyway....if you are worried about a shirt like that...then you havent even scratched the surface....Ive seen a lot worse.
and PC is a disease....its taking over faster than the plague...everyone is worried about offending someone for fear of lawsuits and death.....yeah what I say may not be PC but Im not a politician now am I?
