Enternet Drivers

It is possible that this might belong in the software forum, but, here goes!
I am currently running Enternet 100 to connect my Speedstream 5260 DSL modem. My question is, can I dump the 100, and go to using the 300 Enternet, or, would RASPPPOE be the way to go?
I can't complain about my connect speed (1300kbps down, and 300kbps up on average)the advertised speed (Earthlink DSL) is 1500kbps down, and 340kbps up. I just wonder if "upgrading would in any way, enhance my perfomance. I am in the process of buying a Linksys 4 port router, does any of this matter to the router?
