need some help on tweaking plz...

Post by Spyder »

well ive tried many of these tweaks with no luck. im not to good at this and am pretty new and dont understand most of it. ive read so much my eyes hurt but still cant speed it up...lol...any help would be greatly appreciated.

this is what ive done so far with not much luck. :(

---------------------before win98 registry tweak-----------------------

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 114 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

-tested at 137kbps down, 753kbps up

DefaultRcvWindow (TCP Receive Window, or simply RWIN).
Determines how much data the receiving computer is prepared to get. A too large RWIN will result in greater loss of data if a packet is lost or damaged. A too small RWIN will be very slow, as each packet will have to be acknowledged before the next packet is sent. For best results, the RWIN should be set to a multiple of the TCP MSS. Try setting yr RWIN higher but check that it is not too high. It works you me

Nice numbers. :)

ty. thats with using 640000 for rwin even though its not a multiple of mss. i tried using number like 640940 and 638020 which r multiples of my mss but i lost speed.

well atlest its working properly again. :)

Small download tests are not accurate, download a large file :)
