See if that helps, if not and the Linksys is new, take it back and get a replacement, might be defective.

This is what I read in your first post, for that responce.

What OS is on that computer?

Have you looked in,
Right click on Network icon, select Properties, scroll to TCP/IP, highlite your Ethernet adapter, click Properties, IP Address tab, Obtain IP Address Automatically should be checked.

Have you also tried letting the Internet Connection Wizard in WinME setup the Lan connection? I did it that way with my Linksys and WinME OS on second computer.

Ever use Zone Alarm and uninstall it recently?
Run a check for viruses(update dat files) or spyware(http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0-10 ... 02674.html) on that computer.

Is this a true or not? It will help with finding out the problem, you stated later something totally different.

You have 2 pc's on the network correct? If you plug the modem straight into the pc, that pc's would have to have the correct host name (DNS name) and the TCP/IP properties config. correctly for the nic. or you will not get online. Did you make these changes to the pc when you went straight into the pc from the modem?
