Why do people hate syclone?

I teel ya i just can't win on here. First i come on and everyone wants to bash me and down what i say. So what do i do, i start copying quotes from websites that share my opnion and see if they still argue. Well they don't argue but they bash me for not using proper grammar and using quotation marks! So then i say ok, lets get some new threads on here that deal with new technology and maybe we can argue over that and at least have an interesting argument instead of just cursing each other out. Well then i get bashed for that. Then to satisfy my own wants i post a number of threads to help newbies with linksys routers, port forwarding, and such. I get bahsed for that, and i even had ppl thank me for posting those, just not anyone on here. Well then i decide to just chill and keep to my own, answer questions i feel like answering try to stay out of arguments as much as possible, and then i get a request to be banned. I guess this leads us to why this post is in the general forum, anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on why i am the target of all this criticism?

Aside from your horrible belief that the Geforce 3 is superior to the 8500 (ban him please) I have no problem with you. *whistles*

Who knocked you?

My only complaint was you just came in and tried to change thing, like the way the forums run at first. No biggie, and I never said a thing, just expressing my opinion now ;)

We don't hold grudges for New comers unless they did something horriably evil. It's time to take a trip down the memory lane and see if there's anything you did that's out of place.

Its probably because you post in third person. That would get on my nerves quick. Other then that, I dunno, I guess u havnt been making trouble in Gen forum. Or I would have seen it.

This thread started with some potential. The S1lv3r now believes it shall only go about 2 pages. S1lv3r would love to hunker down with some popcorn for a good old fashion war of the board thread, but S1lv3r believes that this thread will not be that thread.

The S1lv3r has spoken.

The criticism came from networking forum, broadband forum, and online gaming forum mainly. I seem to be getting along with the ppl a little better lately but at first all i had to do was make a suggestion about how i would run this site differently and that was it. I guess they found it offensive that someone new had the guts to ctitique there precious website. the way i see it, doesn't matter how long you have been here a good idea is a good idea. If opinions differe fine, but don't bash me for having one different than you thats all i ask.

dont let it bother you. its not easy @ first if your not one of the main group, they do attack alot but weed them out and your find some kool players here @ sg, very helpful and so on.

Syclone_A+: Anytime a newbie comes on a longtime forum with an attitude like you did, you will get bashed. You need to sit back and read a little more than you type sometimes and get to know the 'heartbeat' of a forum before you go beating down the doors and blasting in full force like a bull in a china shop, like you did. When you act like that, you will run into problems.

There are people that have been here several years and they WILL take offense to someone who "ctitique (sic) there precious website", as you put it.

You have to earn respect. It takes time. If you're not patient, you'll never become part of this forum.

I've watched a few of the threads you have been in. Not pretty.

Once you get the feel of this place, it's freaking awesome! You need to become part of the forum and not the forum become part of you.

Then perhaps this thread should have been posted in one of those places where your enemies reside.

Well in the case of the networking forum, you created at least seven or eight threads within a few minutes, almost ALL of them being about Linksys routers. First off, following some BASIC forum rules, if you wanted to post such information, consolidating them into ONE THREAD would have been the best idea. Your follow-up thread ("Now that we have all the threads necessary for all of our newbies out there") was simply a chatty topic, and didn't really belong in the networking forum (IMO).

Spouting off about certifications without anyone asking isn't a good idea either. Bragging, no matter your credentials, doesn't turn anyone on. Lots of people have no certs at all, and can run circles around those that do.

I don't hate anyone, you included.
You'll catch on and become just another SG member soon.

Then you can watch the next group of new members get kicked around :D

as i stated in other threads i wanted the name Syclone by itself the only reason i added a+ is syclone was already taken. Don't see how though, i haven't seen any syclone post here yet. oh, and the point to all of those threads was never realized i don't think. Did you see how many views each thread had? Thats how many times i have been asked those questions, my suggestion to sg was to have a permanent thread somewhere on here that linked to linksys's web site just like i did in those threads. Maybe another on port forwarding and a list of common ports for games, ftp, ect ect. I thought it was a good idea, of course i wouldn't have split them up had i been doing this seriously, that was just to emphasize a point. Maybe i should pm someone like yosc with my suggestions and the admins would give them more attention? Oh and i don't mind answering questions but i do mind repititiveness, a+ is a cert that implies you don't mind helping ppl out and i am know different, but reading an owner's manual shouldn't be that difficult, i mean does anyone here see what i am getting at. Oh and they didn't hurt my feelings are piss me off, i am jst curious if maybe i am getting all of this harassment since i am a newbie to sg or what? thanks for the replies and yea i did come on here strong, but thats just how i am. All out all the time, just say it like it is and let the ppl who don't like me just continue to not like me.

 That's what I was thinking myself.

And about your comment of sending your suggestions/comments to a more senior member may get more recognition is wrong...if you are here long enough and get to know how people act here and how the forum as a whole works, you'll realize that being a "Senior Member" "Advanced Member" or a Noobie means nothing at all. Your knowledge and how you conduct yourself on the forums with speak for itself....the amount of posts you have does not mean anything to the veterans of the board.

Just because someone comes in at a later time than someone else does not mean they know less than they do. Someone that knows nothing can spam his way to Senior Member status but that means nothing.

Why do people hate syclone?

Well, because you make it very hard not to. I don't know how old you are, but my guess would be somewhere between 17 and 21. Why? Because you are so full of yourself that it's almost pathetic. Kind of reminds me of this chart I put together to give my buddy a chuckle over his son in college, who was feeling a little full of himself too. This chart illustrates how the typical person perceives his knowledge of life in general, or, on your case, computer and networking knowledge.

Notice, if you will, the steep drop around 21-23.... this typically occurs when you leave home/college, and go out into the world and begin to be on your own. Funny- suddenly you begin to realize maybe you didn't know everything, and maybe there are some other people out there that know a little more than yourself, and that you could benefit from.

Then, bit by bit, you begin to see there are LOTS of talented, smart, and experienced people around you, and your perception of self-knowledge (which, do notice, typically coincides with age / maturity) drops steadily. As this perception of what you formerly believed you ALREADY knew continues to decline, you begin asking advice from, and listening to, other people! It's a miracle!
Image

People act adversely to you because, well, frankly, you act like an a*s. I don't know you personally, but the persona you project here is one of complete arrogance. You spew forth responses and remarks full of little barbs, apparently intended to impress us with your vast knowledge. I personally love the pasted in, and copied quotes from others, as well as your continued references to the qualified sources of some of your statements....
i read dsl for dummies, networking for dummies, cisco, mcse, network +, ummmmmm tcp/ip for dummies, lets see there is prolly more

Yes, the "For Dummies" series are some of the most highly rated and succinct publications ever written in the field of networking.

Why are you here? What exactly did / do you hope to achieve here? You make comments like
Oh and i don't mind answering questions but i do mind repititiveness
and you wonder why people dislike you? If you are bored by the repetitiveness, then don't read or respond to the thread- it's as simple as that.

You think there was value added by your string of posts on the Linksys routers? Apparently you do when you say
Did you see how many views each thread had?

Did you see how many REPLIES you had??? People looked at them, thinking there was something of substance there, and found nothing more than hyperlinks. The majority have no replies at all. I also found your comments toward the moderators / owners of this site offensive as well. Who do you think you are?

So now, we get to the nitty-gritty... What specifically is your experience? What do you do every day? Student? HS? College? Live at home w/Mom and Dad? What's your job? I read with humor your comparative of sophisticated networking experience in another thread:
And i have been on lans for gaming dozens of times

I suspect this may be the extent of you vast networking knowledge, other than the lan you may have set up in your room.

You ridicule some of the senior (read older, more experienced... NOT post-count) members, who have challenged or disagreed with you. Maybe, if you shut your mouth long enough, you might learn something. They, like myself, make a living day in and day out working with this stuff, and can bring some real-world knowledge to the subject that you have no experience in whatsoever, beyond a chapter in "networking for dummies".

And foremost, if you truly expect to someday have a career in this field, you better lose the attitude of "boredom" dealing with other people's questions. You will someday learn, the people asking the questions, are also the ones signing your check. You say
i don't really care what some guy who sits ina cubical all day that designs stuff says

Well, I think you'll find the people you've been arguing with are anything but. We deal with things that you have no clue about, and have never seen or read in a text book. Real-world problems, not hypethetical situations in your books. The real world is much different than the ideal one protrayed in your little books.

I think I'll wrap up now, as I've wasted much to much valuable time dealing with a subject as yourself. Continue to post the same way you are now if you choose- noone really cares. Maybe some day you'll grow up, and learn to listen more than you speak.

I 've got to go get some billable work done.

sycloneA+,
Now that I've read a few more of your posts, all I can say is:

Go back and read what you've posted here syclone, and if you can't see what others are seeing regarding your method of delivery, and your 'high horse attitude' you probably never will.

If you continue in this manner here at SG, your questions will be ignored by those who can help, and your posts will be contradicted by those who know better.

This site is about helping people learn, so when an answer is wrong, those who know better will set the record straight.
Who would want it any other way?
