No. That's relly bad. You are about at the end of your rope (Okay, cable) You will not be able to get any reasonable speed at that distance. IDSL at 144k is a possibility.

Hey... Verizon just extended their distance to 18000 feet. Is that a good thing? Umm....

18,500 feet is the barrier for obtaining dsl however the possibility of connecting on a remote terminal via fiber optics may be an option for you. Think it over and go with cable in the time being.

Some ISP's let you get DSL up to 22,500 feet....but most were 17,500 feet for ease of troubeshooting and support....22,500 feet has some huge demands on top quality lines and equipment all inbetween...and we all know the local phone companies have all that going one (yah riiiight).

I'm hearing rumors about our local phone company not offering DSL anymore to peep past 14,000 feet...heh.

I'm at 12,300.

I've read some reviews of people getting 640K/128K D/U ADSL at that distance from Covad. Not really sure if your ILEC will service your loop at that distance though.

You're pretty far from the CO. Is that what the telephone company says you are in wire feet?

Verizon will run a line out to 18k feet on a clean line. As well as Bell South (since I have no idea where you're from). You might not get full speed, but hey, it beats dial-up.

13300 feet from my CO with a 1Mbit/1Mbit connection running just fine, I think 1.5Mbit/128KB service from say earthlink would do just fine at your location.
