Can I damage my modem and router if i leave it on all day and night?

no, it is actually better if you leave it on.

It's preferable that you leave the cable modem on all the time, that way if there is an area problem and a large number of modems go down all at the same time, a flag will be raised at the cable co. alerting them to a modem outage...
