I am hooked up to att@home. Can I put a 2nd nic in the computer that is hooked up to the cable modem so that I can connect a 2nd computer and share files, printer, and modem?
Is there a way to enable file and print sharing between my computers without allowing the rest of world access to my files?
Or do I need a router to keep my computers on a seperate network than the @home network?

ahh, i reccemend that you just put that second NIC in your other CPU and buy a cheap hub, it'll save you one of those precise IRQ's.
