Figured I'd start a thread on motorcycles.....new member Syklops kinda jump started the idea.

Here's my current ride, I went up to New Hampshire to pick her up early this past spring. '97 Softail Springer.
Started out like quite stock....I'm slowly grooming her into a sorta classic David Mann chopper look, I like old school style.
I brought her home looking like this...
(click each pic to expand) I added paddle style foot rests for the passenger, am in the market for old style floppy leather throwover saddle bags, I ditched the fast back seat and put on a pillow style until I come across a Mustang Regal Duke seat. Found a medium height back rest to hold over until I find a really high old style one.

Currently it looks pretty close to these pics...although I finally got rid of that football air cleaner cover and found an old style round one...which I have on now. Mikuni 42 carb under there. Replacing brakes and brake lines this week....got an old braided style leather tank console. I like getting my parts from swap meets....it's good to find old school parts and repurpose them on your ride. I stay away from that online order cheap made in china crap that everyone puts on these days. On the search for a larger tear drop style headlight, will be removing the turn sigs up front under the handle bars and relocating them down on the forks. I like the old Cycle Shack gooseneck pipes, but if I find some older upswept pipes...may jump on those. Also will probably replace the rear finder with a swept FLH style...and get a luggage rack on there. Along with taller sissy bar..authentic old style.

My prior ride, which early this spring I sold to a collector/restoration guy in PA, was an '83 FLHS..Shovelhead power!
I loved that bike..what a sound, best sounding engine Harley made.

Wifes ride is an '04 Sportster 1200 Custom, with Stage 1 kit in and out. Still a carb..so it sounds great.

Several bikes ago....had an '06 FXDBI....a Dyna class, the model was a Street Bob. Doesn't look like a Street Bob though...which would have denim paint, and mini apes, and a different seat. I put lower super glide handle bars on, all logo's and emblems removed and tins painted gloss black. Dual seat passenger setup with back rest, luggage rack, floppy leather saddlebags. It was unfortunately fuel injected...the twinkie engine, but I had a stage 1 kit in and out. Must be older pictures...I still had the mini windshield on...which I usually didn't use unless I was doing long rides inland during peak bug season. Overall I'm not a fan of windshields. No pics of prior rides before these....was back in the 80's and early 90's...Honda CM400T shortly after high school, and rode roommates Yamaha 650 Special in college.

I never saw that Ironhead Sporty Dan...pretty cool mods on that.
As always, love the Shovel FLH...Shovels sound sweet with a Thunderheader pipe!

ya,I really liked that sporty,I put the new 21 on the front,and I loved the weld on rigid rear end,the frame & headlight shroud and wheel hub and some other parts were powder coated,pretty cool little bar hopper.

I no longer have this bike, but I bet it has been places none of your bikes could go.

I also have a Fuji aluminum hybrid bike

Too much suspension takes away from peddle power, they are great for off road, but consume more energy over long distances, so you have to balance it with your riding style. As far as frames I prefer steel myself.

I was thinking about switching to hybrids, how do they handle the off road adventures?

Haven't ventured much off road with mine, it handles normal unpaved paths ok. Mine has the newer 700c 29" tires that still feel a bit big to me. I got a Satori suspension seat post that is not too springy, just takes away a bit from the hard thumps.

2006 Honda Shadow VT1100C. We put a lot of miles on this year. Went to the Dragon in June (second trip there) and just got back from Thunder on the strip in Geneva Ohio.

I rode in the 80's & early 90's until an ******* took my lane...be safe and ride on!

The motor's weak but It gets about 50 miles of single track per week

I have a Polaris ATV but that's boring and now just collects dust.
