Win 7 to Windows 8 for $15?

Post by Lurch »

I can upgrade to Windows 8 for $15. Should I? I've only been on Win 7 for a few weeks and am starting to get used to it. Now I wonder if Win 8 would confuse me all over again. I saw Win 8 run at a PC store and was told it runs good on 2 GB of RAM. I have 4 GB of RAM on my Dell PC.

I am sticking with Windows 7 for now... Then again, I haven't played with Windows 8 much and it shouldn't be that different if you disregard the "Metro" tiles.

Just make sure you burn your recovery disk set for your current Windows 7 install so you can go back if you don't like Windows 8. Metro AKA The Modern UI or whatever you want to call it, can be a pain to use effectively on a none touch screen device. The hot corners take some getting used to too. 15$ is about as cheap as it gets other than running the enterprise trial for 90 days. It seems most people either really like it or really hate it. I hated it at first, not so much now after using it for a while. If Metro had better multi monitor support I might buy into it. As it stands I'll likely go back to Windows 7 when the trial period for the RP expires next month.
I don't know the same things you don't know.
