Ethernet Hub Slowing Down Internet Speed
I noticed my internet speeds on my PC were slower than the other computers in the house, including my laptop that's wireless. After trying different things like switching out cables and such, I came to the conclusion that the fault was on my ethernet hub. I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Dynex-DX-EHB4-Ethernet-10Base-T-external/dp/B000U29M6Q. I was thinking about picking up this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122128&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL082112&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL082112-_-EMC-082112-Index-_-Switches-_-33122128-L031B since it's on sale for cheap right now. This is between my wireless router and my other devices. I use it to plug in my Desktop PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 since my wireless router is on the other side of the house and doesn't have enough extra ports to plug all these into. Does anyone have any experience with it, or have a different suggestion? Thanks!

10 meg hub..if you're internet is faster than 10 megs, yeah it will be a bottleneck.
Hubs are way outdated these days too.....switches handle traffic much more efficiently.
That model Netgear switch is quite good, I've installed lots of those models and no problems.

My ethernet hub is sitting on a shelf, unused for ever so long. One of these days, I will toss it.
At work, I did use one a few years ago. I temporarily replaced a switch with a hub. This was for debugging. With a hub, your computer gets to see all packets. So, with the hub in place, I put one system into promiscuous mode to monitor traffic to the other.
As soon as I had finished my testing, I went back to using the switch.
Do yourself a favor, and toss that hub out.
