Windows 7 start menu question

Post by CableDude »

On the Windows 7 start menu, is there a way to replace "shutdown" with logoff?

Click Start > Run type gpedt.msc

Go to:

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar

Look for:

"Change Start menu Power Button"

[You can sort these by alphabetical order by clicking the column header]

Double click the entry then click enabled and then select log off from the options.

If you want to prevent them from shutting down the computer too then:

In the same sub folder enable the policy:

"Remove and prevent access to the shut down, restart, sleep and hibernate commands"

Disabling the shut down commands also removes it from the Ctrl Alt Del screen as well.

That will apply to all users, including you, to restore it you need to undo all of the above.
