Anyone using this? I'm considering encrypting my wife's laptop (everything) to ensure against any intrusions and/or theft. It is also wireless and I thought it might help also in case someone happens to hack our home network.

Works great, but don't encrypt the whole drive. Just encrypt sensitive data.

I've deployed it in production environments, recently encrypted a fleet of around 25 laptops for someone...did the entire disk. Works fine. Software full disk encryption does give you a small penalty hit...some brands heavier than others, in my experience TrueCrypt does not give much of a performance hit compared to other brands.
The full encryption process is quite easy, it has a wizard that sets it up for you...kicks of a process that can take a couple of hours to do (that you don't need to babysit) depending on your laptops horsepower.
If you do the FDE, make sure you create the rescue disk..."just in case".
