Socket 775 Used Motherboard Suggestions?

Post by purecomedy »

I've got a 4 year old PC with a bad motherboard (second flaky ASUS motherboard in a row). I want to buy a $50 motherboard on ebay or something just to get the computer running again since it has a decent vid card in it can still be used for some games if someone is over here....and I can finally retire the P4 2.8C PC (which has a flaky HD controller).

I believe the CPU is a Core 2 Duo E6300

The existing one I have is an ASUS P5B Deluxe I believe. Not so sure I want to just buy the same model since this has crapped out on me. So I'm looking for any thoughts on a make and model to buy instead.

i have been running an abit IP35pro for more than 3-1/2 years overclocked and it has been flawless for me, i have never even updated the BIOS on it, rock stable, i did add small fans to the heatsinks to help take some of the heat out of it though.

Wish I had the same experience. I actually believe this was a basic P5B, not the deluxe though. This motherboard has been a gong show. Sound card died first, USB was flakey for a long time and now it's dead.

Then there's my Pentium 4 which I think was on ASUS P3B where the HD Controller has been bad since about a year in. What a nightmare that was.
