I prefer Quicktime Alternative or you can get Lite to avoid all the added junk... much better to use IMO when viewing within the browser which is what you mostly do anyway.

You shouldn't really see a difference..they use..like..3.5 megs. Todays systems..that's much like a drop of water in a bucket full of water.

You can delete the registry value for qtask.exe, which will prevent Quicktime from loading at boot. However, the next time you run Quicktime, it will recreate that registry value. Qtask is actually not the Quicktime executable. You can even delete Qtask.exe or rename it to qtask.exe.old and Quicktime will recreate it next time it's run. Short of uninstalling Quicktime, there's no permanent method of getting rid of qtask.exe, except a bat or cmd file that deletes it at shutdown. quicktime sux anyway

VLC Player plays every format that Quicktime plays.

Yep keeps coming back, I knew I had got rid of Q something before I posted here. And I have not used it(don't think I ever have), just came back on it's own.

I started removing stuff after getting new printer it added massive time by itself after taking it out and lot of other stuff zips thru start up. Had gotten to point (especially after printer swap) would start it and go water plants or something come back later.

What specs is this computer? Seriously...it shouldn't add even 1 second to systems.

Regarding printer swap and performance changes....did you remove the "old" printer...and then uninstall all software/drivers for that old printer?

CPU 2.00, 736MB RAM Have since removed old printer and driver, but sped up before that. The original (Lexmark) was not even on start up the HP was and like I said it would be last thing and would take forever. The icon for it looked like a V-8 had to look real close to see was a printer. Computer is 6 or more years old I'm sure not close to what most people on this kind of forum have. Can't argue with results the tuner card (has since been removed too) had scheduling and itself on start up was dragging it too.

Lexmark drivers are horrible, lots of leftover junk even after uninstalling...some models even leave a service still running on your rig.
