WW3 was going to start at some point... here it is, Iran will join forces with NK and all hell will break loose. Time to start stocking up on stuff like gas...

I think too much is made of the NK offense. Same can be said for Iran. Just a ripple on the pond.... but that's just my little opinion.

sometimes those ripples dislodge something from the edges that causes the dam to burst too

Unfortunately it's a game of cat and mouse with deadly consequences.

What does NK and Iran bring to the table? Probably not much. The big question is what does China do. Since China holds most of our IOUs, would they really want to get into a pissing contest at that level?
Not being argumentative, just throwing balls into the dirt because no one is at work today.

China seems to be playing things pretty smart so far.

I agree. China can take this so many ways. Actual combat... or demand payment on the loans the USA has with them. That would put us on our knees over night.

Fortunately any slowdown, let alone a cease in trading between the two countries would not be in anyone's best interest. It wouldn't happen.
The question is how far with China go in backing up the North (with force).

It depends on what China's best interests/priorities are.

I just can't see China turning down billions of dollars of debt from the rest of the world to back up NK

War will happen..just on what scale beyond what is already taking place in the Gulf is the question. NK and many other nations could stand to have a nice economic boost after the war is over much like WWII did with the US which is prob what the US needs... look at all the jobs the Gulf wars have helped create in the states not to mention what would happen if all those soldiers came home to a over 9% unemployment rate.

Not in China's best interest to call in the debt but they can sure wreak havoc in many ways.

One thing is certain, people tend not to raise hell when the American economy is good. Being this close to another collapse, it's no wonder that these rogue countries are stepping it up a notch. We simply don't have the money to fight multiple wars on multiple fronts.

Someone sent me this in an email. I have no idea of the validity, perhaps some of you with more time than I would like to research it...

With our massive amount of debt owed to China, what would we do if they decided to demand their money complete, no more interest only payments, and if we couldn't pay, opt to take possession of say ... Ft Knox or perhaps even a state... How would the world react if China decided to claim a small state such as Mass or Hawaii in lieu of payment? Would they have the right? Could/would we stop them? Whose side would United Nations be on? NATO? Illuminati?

Simple, the references to our debt to China confused me into thinking this was that thread...
Why so quick to dismiss it as "seems bogus"?

The explanation from a group that I found on the google news site when this was fresh seems logical, their explanation and looking at the image at a slightly different angle makes it fit a little better.

I can understand the angle giving different appearances, just think of a call in baseball. However, according to the video, it is a coordinated cover up. I would be interested to hear Jawz take on this.
I will say this, through out our entire history, our government has lied to us and deceived us countless times, dating all of the way back before we were even a country... To be honest, many of our school books are full of slanted and/or false information... We typically believe what our preferred news source tells us, when in truth we really have no clue as to what is actually going on...
I am not stating this is true as quite candidly, none of us have the true facts to swear that anything we hear on any news source is true...
Of course the purpose of the forums is to discuss things...

Ya I don't doubt that our government would try to cover this up, but if it had happened that way i think more activity would have gone on and either been spotted or news crews/civilians would have been prohibited from the area.
Jawz has made a bunch of comments on this already and it does seem rather tin foil like.
