Some routers can give you control over specific packets... I have the DLink DGL4300 and it has "Game Fuel" which is what allows me to do just that.

Ya, you want a router that offers QoS features.

So enable QoS and then set the port your gaming PC(or game system) uses to high priority.

Find out what port your PC is plugged in to on the router, it'll say 1 2 3 or 4 in the back, just follow the cord from the PC.
On that tab for QoS, click enable. Then go to "Ethernet Port Priority" and choose a higher priority for the port number that your PC uses.

Well everything in that picture is pretty much as it says..
Click enable at the top
Name the Device (your computer your gaming on) using also the mac address(get it from command prompt and typing in ipconfig /all and write down what it says for the physical address and fill that info in for mac address.
Then alter the priority's for it and the ports
Click to optimize gaming applications
Choose the apps or games change port priority and the ports you need and you can look these up online usually from the game's FAQ on their site or just google the question.
there ya go!
