Task Manager Question

Last weekend I was helping someone how had the svchost.exe virus and I would go into tm and stop the service, I could distinguish the correct instance of svchost because most list SYSTEM or LOCAL SERVICE as the User Name running it, but this one listed OWNER.
So I was looking in my tm and found that the only process that lists a User Name is System Idle Process, which shows as SYSTEM. The rest are blank, no user name shown. Why would that be? Both computers were running XP Home.

You have disabled terminal services... Enable it and they will reappear, if you so choose...
PS, you missed your birthday thread in gen discussion forum...

You're welcome!
Did that solve your TM problem?

Yes, but now, if I recall correctly, I think I disabled TS after reading an article on services not really needed on a home computer.

You don't need terminal services running. But if you have multiple accounts then you need terminal service IF you want to use Fast User Switching. But if term serv is not running you can still have multiple accounts, you will just have to use logoff-logon.
