Have several pc's that are missing the update tab in Java.

Windows XP sp3

Anyone ever encounter anything like this?

Yeah but I just go to java.com anyways when updating.

I guess I could go that route.... but why just 1 group of computers? Did 45 Vista machines and no problems.

all PC @ my office => XP SP3 updated
latest Java 6u21, look @ 10 PC => normal, update tab available

hmm, :confused:

It still does not seem right. I installed java on the machines in question.

I removed a computer from the Domain and still no update tab. I have 44 other XP machines + 45 Vista machines that have the tab.

I'm updating a network of 60 tomorrow, just finished getting the MSI and whipped up the GPO, when they boot up and log in tomorrow...presto....latest java is silently installed, no toolbar when you download the corporate package from sun.java.com

Now to get the same setup for Flash, Shockwave, and Reader.

It is just so odd that out of 150 computers, why this particular group is missing the update tab.
