That first picture reminds me of an area we drove through between San Diego and Los Angeles...right along the coastline...

It's very nice for the most part.
Good mix of redwoods/ferns, rocky shoreline and sandy shoreline, a few rivers and lagoons, some nice monutains inland a bit.
These photos were about a 25 minute drive from my house.
