I need a free remote desktop type program. Can someone recommend one?

I was turned on to TeamViewer. It’s free for non-commercial use and it works great.

Yeah I did, it was sent to the trash for some reason. Bummer, I would have loved to hook up for a while.

It's the quickest, easiest way to get to someone elses desktop, with minimal effort on your end, and their end. Nothing to sign up for, just click on a little installer on your end...remote user clicks on Join Session...runs an even smaller installer, reads your the ID and password..and BAM...you're in with instant full KB/M control. Smooth, nothing to worry about firewalls with.

ShowMyPC is another one.

For free full time host agent so you can connect to remote computers at any time without end user interaction, logmein.free.

Unlike older remote desktop methods like *VNC or PcAnywhere, none of the above require firewall configuration or knowing the other ends IP address. That's what's nice about them. And the newer current generation remote access programs perform MUCH more smoothly.

I've used http://www.realvnc.com for years.

Thanks guys, I have a handicapped sister-in-law that I really need to do this remotely so I don't have to go over to her house three times a day to install a plug in or something else stupid like that.

Teamviewer got my vote. I used it yesterday on a an old gentlemans computer in a residential center. His wife has Alzheimers and they were forced to give up their home and move into this place. I try to take care of him when I can. Teamviewer made it possible.

Way cool, not just the TeamViewer part but that you are still helping others where and when you can.

Teamviewer is awesome and so easy to use for the person you are trying to help. Previously used the Live messenger remote assistant and the Teamviewer is much better.

There is windows 7 beta, that has what you want. I tried to get it. Left the(my internet alone), I know, I know, crazy

Anyone know of a remote access program that'll work on Ubuntu ?

Never got my father's PC working last week so I mailed him Ubuntu and an XP recovery disk. Going to try to walk him through copying all his important stuff first with Ubuntu before trying an XP repair, but if I had remote access it'd be a hell of a lot easier.
