On your iPod/music device, what music do you have that is very obscure and most likely isn't on others?

For me, it's an album called "Wrapped Around It" by Ann McWilliams. It's by a friend of my wife's and I who we went to high school with. Got the CD when I fixed her computer a few years back. Pretty good stuff. Kinda folksy.

Looking mainly for a new variety of stuff that isnt' mainstream to try out...

Dead Season's album Down Again: They're a homegrown Maine state band that hasn't really branched out beyond a few people.
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!

nice :thumb: I've only got 3 of their albums, but I've seen them live a few times and they put on one helluva show.

For me I'm going to have to say Soul Oddity's electro classic from '96, Tone Capsule in addition to a plethora of vinyl records that I recorded to MP3 years ago.. among them is one of my favorite electronic musicians, Purveyors of Fine Funk (aka Dan Curtin).

I guess I could also mention the Quantic Soul Orchestra and the Budos Band. Very funky material if I may say so myself.

meh.. not too bad, but too much emphasis on vocals and not enough on the funk and they aren't even trying to hide the fact that they are going a little heavy on the drum machine. I'd prefer it to sound a little more natural, but maybe I'm just a bit too picky with music. *shrugs

I've never been too big on funk that places primary emphasis on vocals.. I'm more into the instrumental aspect.

I want 70's "car chase scene" kinda funky, ya dig? ;)

a little more like this:

Or better yet, from Staten Island:
