This HDR image is one I created from four different shots that I took of the visitor center at Palo Duro Canyon, Texas, at sunrise on Oct. 26th.
It's my first attempt at an HDR image, and I think it came out fairly well

Thanks Mark, I'll take a look at those when I get home tonight from work. I've been wanting to play around with HDR for awhile now, and I'm just now starting to wade into the pool a bit with it. Still very much a beginner with it, but I'll get it down soon enough

I shot another picture today (still learning some of the mechanics of this particular camera - figured out how to do bracketed exposures)...ran it through photomatix and came up with this:

Looks like another topic I'll have to research!
It's a pretty cool post-processing effect, but sometimes you'll get funky results if you don't tweak it just right:
This image ^^^ since there was a bit of a wind, the trees in the lower left hand corner moved slightly between exposures. So it resulted in a bit of a blur for that spot on the picture. Just one of the things you have to look out for...
This one I got a little experimental with and threw in a b&w exposure into the mix. Ended up getting kind of a chalky feel to the colors as a result...

you could probably mask out the bad part on that image and keep the other trees from another image.

If you go to http://www.flickr.com/sonicaeronautic, go to collections and select Landscapes, then Palo Duro Canyon. That's where I keep my photos that I used with these particular HDR images

I'm just trying to think of something I can use to test this out today.
Indy: Do you do it all in PS or do you use any plug-in's such as the Photomatix he spoke about?
I'm using the standalone copy of photomatix to do the processing, then I'll pull it into photoshop for any touch ups. Just seemed a little easier for me to do it that way.
I'll probably go out and do a little bit of shooting myself...there's a presbyterian church up the road that has a bit of a cathedral feel to it that I may swing by to check out...
