My guess is that this make and model of router has a firmware not fully compatible with your ISP. Thus a low MTU value. Log into your router and check out the line speeds it is getting from your ISP.

Try the following with TCP Optimizer:

General Settings tab:
Custom settings - check
Modify All Network Adapters - check
network adapter selection - your NIC
MTU - 1392
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 129792
MTU Discovery - Yes
Black Hole Detect - No
Selective Acks - Yes
Max Duplicate ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options:
Windows Scaling - checked
Timestamps - uncheck

Advanced Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 10
LocalPriority - 5
Host Priority - 6
DNSPriority - 7
NetbtPriority - 8
Lan Browsing speedup - optimized
QoS: NonBestEffortLimit - 0
ToS: DisableUserTOSSetting - 0
ToS: DefaultTOSValue - 80
MaxNegativeCacheTtl - 0
NetFailureCacheTime - 0
NegativeSOACache Time - 0
LAN Request Buffer Size - 32768

1st shot is Home page. Under DSL shows up speed of 1032 kbps and down speed of 7996 kbps.

2nd shot is Lan configuration page . Shows for LAN connections MTU=1500.

From what I understand afetr reading manual ,MTU for WAN may be different.

Click the WAN TAB, Then click PPP in the task bar. The PPP Configeration page should come up.
On the PPP Configuration page click the magnifying glass in the Actions box.
The PPP Interface-Add page will come up. There will be a value in the MTU box on this page. Post this value as WAN MTU=, or do a screen shot.

What are your speeds right now? If you are running about close to 2 Mb consistently, no one wants to suggest changes that might make it worse.

Trying to guess what trogers or McCoffee would suggest since Analyzer is still showing MTU = 1392. Perhaps modem or computer still set at MTU=1392. Check Modem setting and rerun Optimizer for MTU=1492.

Check the PPP Settings page and make sure the WAN MTU has changed to 1492.

If it is at 1492, run Optimizer again with MTU=1492 and TCP Receive Widow= 255552. Then check with Analyzer to make sure it is reading MTU = 1492.

Run a speedtest to see if it has changed.

Modem instructions I am getting from reading the User's Manual on the Prolink web site since I haven't ever used one their modems. Manual is 205 pages and has instructions for changing things I have never even heard about. Has some nice features i wish were on my modem.
Any changes you make using the submit options are only temporary and modem will revert to previous settings with a powerdown. Means you can make and test all kinds of changes and still revert to your previous settings by just turning your modem off. Nice.
If you want to permanently save changes you need to go into Admin tab and select Commit and confirm changes. Modem still saves copy of your previous settings so you can reboot to them.

If PPP Settings still show 1392, change to 1492 and click the submit button at the bottom of page. This should save the new MTU setting until you powerdown or reboot the modem.MTU = 1492.

I see the WAN MTU did change, but don't know why it is testing at 1452. See that your speed increased some.
Does your PPP Settings still show WAN MTU=1492? If you open Optimizer, what does it show as present setting for MTU?

Wish trogers, mccoffee or rolligstone would look at this. i would like to get their imput.

If you want to experiment, change modem WAN and LAN MTU to 1500. Run Optimizer with MTU=1500 and Tcp Receive Window at 128480. Make sure Modify Network Adaptors is checked.

Run Analizer and speedtest to see what changes you get.

Run a TCP Analizer and see what it shows. I wouldn't change any thing right now. This speedtest shows 2201 down and 365 up. Probably should do a few more speedtests to make sure it is consistant.

Some dsl providers such as bellsouth used an mtu of 1454 ,or the 1452 which i have seen it before. At the other forum I help out at I remember the admin Danjr was talking about how the lower mtu seems to work better for some in his case the 1452 did work better...

http://www.iimmgg.com/image/331500-9a677777ef4e9482.png
I think i figured out what is causing the mtu promblem make sure the lan mtu ,and wan mtu is 1492 if I'm interapting the manual correctly the mtu is in three places.. On in wanconfig ,and one in lanconfig ,and one in usbconifing change them all to 1492 could be why the registry is not taking the optimizer mtu value. Since the wan ,and lan were different value it could be throwing of the mtu dicovery if I"m thinking this out right it's 4am here ,and no sleep.

If you leave the settings alone I can't blame the user the speeds are great either way it's up you :)

As mccoffee said your provider may be limiting MTU on their system to 1452.

If you are consistenly getting about 2000 kbps, I personally wouldn't change anything.

If you really want to change MTU = 1452, then TCP Receive Window will be 62128 or 124256.

Using prolink H9200P modem/router may cause the MTU limitation for South East Asia users !

How is your speed now ?

Irregular ping times in hop 2 ! Where do you put your modem ? Did you coil up your cables ?

Scan for possible malware. Also, do you have sufficient RAM?

@Rollingstone, my modem is just beside my comp but connecting to the main line is outside in my room..

@trogers yup 4gb of RAM :)

also when i play online after 10-15 mins of playing my connection to the server hangs up ( happens to all servers )

btw 2 computers are connecting to the modem, do i have to change the settings in the other computer?

tnx

Scan both comps and make sure they are malware free. Tweak both comps to optimium.

Place the modem on the floor below the comp table, and not next to the comp to avoid electrical interference for devices like CRT monitor, speakers, etc.

TCP settings are correct but ping times rather high.

Do a tracert to http://www.yahoo.com and post.

You are behind 2 routers with the same IP address 192.168.1.1

Your modem already has a built-in router. You need to connect your comp directly to the modem and set it to bridge mode to turn off its router.
