A CPU is the processor inside the computer, I assume you mean you have 2 computers in 2 different rooms.

Turning off 1 computer shouldn't affect the other.

What do you mean enable the network card? Is the networkcard on teh wireless one usually disabled?

Is first computer running ICS somehow? Does it also have a wireless card? Seems like the second computer is looking at the first computer in some manner.

Look at the network card settings disable all wake on lan stuff ,and power saving. I'm not sure if you installed it ,or not nvida does have a firewall software built into their onboard double nic stuff ,if you have it installed unistall it.

You should have the modem connected to the "Internet" port of the router, and the first PC connected to one of the numbered ports of the router.

Then navigate to the configuration web page for the router. Look in the instruction manual for detail here. Then go to the Wireless settings area and make a note of the SSID and encryption key. Make sure you are connecting to this wireless network on the second PC.
