WikiScanner discovered that American Airlines changed their Wikipedia entry to state that Flights 11 and 77 never flew on 9/11.
Original entry was:
Two American Airlines aircraft were hijacked and crashed during the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack: American Airlines Flight 77 (a Boeing 757) and American Airlines Flight 11 (a Boeing 767).
New entry is:
Two American Airlines aircraft were hijacked and crashed during the September 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack: Flight 77 (a Boeing 757) and Flight 11 (a Boeing 767). Although these flights were daily departures before and a month after September 11, 2001. Neither flight 11 nor 77 were scheduled on September 11, 2001. The records kept by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (http://www.bts.gov/gis/) do not list either flight that day.

September 11, 2001 attacks: Two American Airlines aircraft were hijacked and crashed: Flight 77 (a Boeing 757) was intentionally crashed into the Pentagon and Flight 11 (a Boeing 767) was intentionally crashed into the North tower of the World Trade Center.
Thats what it says on the wiki page

From the wiki discussion page on American Airlines:
This article has been hit by so much vandalism because it hit the front page of digg.com yesterday. Apparently the line about Flights 11 and 77 not being scheduled on 9/11 and therefore could not have been hijacked was added by an IP address belonging to American Airlines. Some diggers didn't understand that all this means is that any of AA's hundreds of employees or customers on a WIFI connection they provide could have done that and retaliated against the company by vandalizing the page. This is no longer on the front page of digg and within a few days all should settle back to normal. wraithfivefa 22:39, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Anyone who actually uses Wiki as a source should have their internet disconnected.

Why would they think AA was saying 9/11 didn't happen? Maybe someone at AA was trying to hint at something else.

All it takes is one disgruntled employee or customer, or a rival employee, to get on to AA's network via wifi in any airport and log on to wiki to make a change...

I'm sure the CEO himself did the editing of that article, with help from the board of directors!

I wouldn't trust it for some things, but it's great for basic research.

I didn't wake up this morning, though the coffee was real good. I expect to wake after my Monday workday is over making the rest of the week easier to handle. I should never have to work Mondays or Fridays since I don't get much done anyway.

yep, anyone can post what they want...it's useless for news...only good for 'how to's' and the like.
