Not even 100 hours on it. I'm glad it won't cost me a dime, and maybe it will come back with better parts?

It's not about the heat sink only, it's about MS is using cheap parts for the 360.
The new batch of 360's should be better but I dont think they will give you new one, You can just hope and I wish you best of luck.
Yes I heard the rumors, not sure if it's true, only Jim can tell us more about it.

Microsoft doesn't detail the hardware revisions, and I'm sure there are sites out there that do (such as those who pointed out the newer, larger heatsinks on the GPU).
Just for kicks Trini, do you happen to remember the date or month/year the console was manufactured? It is still very possible the unit you recently purchased was produced quite some time ago.
And for the record, both my pre-launch and launch-day systems still work fine to this day. I also went a solid 5 years without a DRE on my launch-day PS2. Perhaps I am just one of the lucky ones?

Yes, but good news!! I mailed my Xbox on Aug 3 and it's due to be here on the 20th. Not counting transit time, that is a 6 day turn around. A pleasant surprise, for shizel!

Well here's an update, got it back, runs much cooler and the drive is so quiet I cannot distinguish it from the general noise of the machine.
As long as it holds up I'll be very happy.

after the 3 year extension, we sent our dead "1st wave" system back.
took about 2 weeks, and when it came back, there was a letter included that they had replaced the system
haven't had any problems at all so far (knock on wood) ...

I think mines is due bac agian! This is my second time dealing with issues on my box!

I sent it last tiem for the 3 rings. and they sent it back. not only does my box have a loud noise while playing games, the power botton on the console is hard to push in. god microsoft loves the cash, but cares less for fixing issues!!

Good thing I got a whole year with them hearing my ass screaming at them!
