I just found out that a close friend of mine is going to be a father. He came into the office and just cried on my shoulder..I'm not sure if his tears were of joy or sorrow. I of course, am thrilled for him. I calmed him down and talked to him for a bit. I think he's ok now. :)

So here's a question for all you dads out there, what was your reaction when you heard the news?

I heard I was going to be a father about 3 months ago, I was nothing short of bouncing off the walls with excitement. I'm nervous about being a father but it's not fear, I just want to live up to being the father I expect myself to be.

I guess everyones reaction is different, especially if it was planned as opposed to not planned.

I was very happy about it, my wife was scared to tell me because she thought I would flip out.

Funny little true story. My wife's doctor was a clown, always telling jokes to lighten things up. I almost made him drop my son on the delivery room floor from laughing so hard. He held my son up and said "it's a boy", then I said, "put him back, he's all blue... I ordered a purple one". :rotfl:

The greatest day of my life.

All perfectly normal feelings and I had the same feelings myself. You guys planning on finding out the sex of the baby or be surprised?

I found out on the phone while I was at work! My wife was in Florida with her family and she had been feeling funny recently before her trip. Her sister was about 1 month pregnant at the time and my wife had been feeling depressed, since we had been married for 3 yrs and no baby, and her sister had just in 2005 and was already preggo!

Needless to say, she couldn't wait till she got home from Florida to tell me! So she calls me in the middle of the day at work to let me know I was gonna be a daddy! I screamed it out to all of my coworkers LOL!

Shock of their lives I bet, at best they probably thought you were sterile, most must have assumed you were gay.

Sucks for Bob from accounting those since he bet money on the fact that you were magically transported here from the 80s to make "word" a cool response again.

There is no doubt about that.

Just remember that while your wife is in labor and she gives you that "I'm gonna stick a fork in your eye" look, just smile and say "I love you too babe".

My poor wife was having contractions for almost four days because of a car accident we were in. :(

I lucked out!! My wife was so nice throughout the labor!! I was pretty shocked, since she's your typical attitude filled latina, but she was calm and polite and never screamed lol Probably cuz I did very little speaking! :rotfl:

My sis in law was pretty mean to her hubby! He was trying to make jokes to make her laugh and she was tellin him to STFU :rotfl:

There is a time to keep you mouth shut, I just wish I had a watch on to know when that time was.

Yeah, the baby is unplanned. He is the one that bought the pregnancy test for his girlfriend. She didn't want to find out so he made her take the tests (three of them). :rotfl:

He said that she "flipped out" and started crying then she started to think of worst case scenarios for the baby. I think he's more excited than she about the entire pregnancy.

Attitude has nothing to do with it.

I'm almost positive she was plotting your death in her head, hence the silence.
