I continue to see the spam in our classifieds maybe if you install a rule that says you can't sell unless you have x amount of posts?

I know they do that in some other forums I belong to....just a thought

Not a bad suggestion, thanks, we may implement it.

Unfortunately the spam is not limited to just that forum :(

Yes it's in all forums, but it's a good suggestion.

What about banning IP ranges associated with the countries with these cell phone spammers?

We're doing that....keeping track of the common blocks. It's like playing "whack a mole" though.

But I think Rainbow may have been referring to peeps who come in to sell a few things...not the outright spammers like the cell phone and handbag spammers. Those heavy spammers don't care about the rules anyways...they're already breaking them by spamming.

I said I'm not selling to new members/low post counts I got slapped heh.
One way or other I dont care what you guys are going to decide.

Rivas, the fact that you choose [not] to sell to some members with fewer than x posts is different than what Rainbow suggested for reducing spam.

Oh, and also we try to be as objective as possible.

"Let the buyer beware"--Caveat emptor

"let the seller beware"---Caveat venditor

You have to use common sense on buying and selling in the classified section.
A guy comes in with a very low post count ( 1-10 ), and offers a unbelievable deal on expensive merchandise, a red flag should go up.

That is why I suggested a feedback section among regular members. For the most part, it has worked, and has been helpful...

Selling to a new member, 1-10 posts, isnt so bad, you could demand payment upfront.

:thumb: exactly**, that is why I mentioned seller, not buyer with low post count. My 1st purchase here was from a guy named greg-hard, a 512mb stick of ram. I had about 20-25 posts. Polite member, don't know what happened to him, but got it for 1/2 price from retail back then.. One of the things that drew me to the site was the marketplace, and how members helped each other out-- sometimes giving away hardware to a member that needed something.
