Cable Disconnecting :(

I need help >_< I have no idea why, but my cable modem likes to disconnect... I dunno why, sometimes many times within 10min, its crazy, I am so fed up I am about to buy another. Then i saw that it may not be that, and I was led here, I was hoping someone could show me what I need to do so that it doesn't just disconnect and act like it has its own free will lol

One sure way to test if your modem is faulty or not is to connect it to a friend's internet line of the same Service Provider.

Well thats the thing it doesnt always do it, sometimes it decides to not do it for sometime, sometimes it does and does it alot.

Ummm im not too sure, i think its a cable modem? Got it with my cogeco cable ppl. On the thing it say: "digital broadband RCA" is there type of scan or something I can do so you can check to see if everything is right? This is really borthing me, maybe its just a really crappy modem thing and i need to get a new one but not sure, thats why im here for some help ^_^
