Cable Modem Issue?

Post by Emerson222 »

Hey,

I've just installed a Signal Booster from Motorola and I was wondering, even if my signals are 100% fine w/o it, if using it would harm my connection in anyway. I bought it a while ago and can't return it now, so I wanted to know if I should use it or not. Thanks!

Here are my current readings w/ the Signal Booster:

Downstream Value
Frequency 669000000 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 34 dB
QAM QAM64
Network Access Control Object ON
Power Level 16 dBmV

W/o Signal Booster

Downstream Value
Frequency 669000000 Hz
Signal to Noise Ratio 32-33 dB
QAM QAM64
Network Access Control Object ON
Power Level 2 dBmV

The Signal Booster can be found here: http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers ... l_booster/

If your signal is 100% fine without the booster, it won't do any harm to it, but on the same token it won't help it either.

Do not use it as it will be a waste of energy. Instead, keep it for another day. You may decide to run some extra lines at a future date or perhaps some friend of yours may.

Yeah I agree. If it's not broke, don't fix it. :)
