figured it would be helpful on my 'vacation'

its got lightscribe, and ATI graphics card, a gig of ram, and a 80 gig HD.

I likes it.

29 days and 17 hours, roughly when nortons trial runs out and she never installs another virus scanner.

Meggie,

You should be able to dl Symantec AV for free. You're in the military and they have a contract with Symantec that covers all DoD personnel and civilian contractors, including their home machines. Let me know and I can give you a .mil link to dl it.

Also, considering where you're heading, you might want to invest in one of these:

I like it because you don't ever have to remove the case and if you're on the go a bit, that's a handy feature. As well, the shock protection may help save your laptop if there is a fall. You can also buy these through Dell.com.
