I have a great dog. Cairn Terrier. Very smart fun to be around, the only problem is you must keep them leashed all the time, cause if they get away, anything can happen. I was walking Logan yesterday night. Cell phone went off and I had to switch leash hands to answer it. As I switched hands I fumbled and he yanked it out of my hand. We are in a fairly large field so I'm fairly confident I can catch him before he gets in trouble. The chase is on, and I'm yelling for him to stay and he just keep letting me get close but not enough to catch him. My temper is starting to get the better of me and I'm yelling stay and swearing just a bit. Anyhow I'm real close to catching him yelling stay at the top of my lungs and guess what he stops on a dime, I trip right over him and go down hard. Mud all over me (see rain threads) I get up and look to see where he went when he comes up and starts to lick the mud off my glasses. You should have seen my daughter when I come up into the door yard.

Hey, If Me & My Buddies Were Making Billions of Dollars I'd Tell Ya What Ya Wanted To Hear Too!
A while back I had a dog I use to walk every day after work. She would run and I’d run with her. After a while I figured I could ride my bike and hold the leash (15 foot retractable) and then she could really run without me being an anchor. Worked out well for about two weeks.
One day we were flying down the street when she caught the smell of something and came to a dead stop. I didn’t react fast enough and did a header over the handle bar. Smacked my face on the road and ripped the skin off my hands. My dog came over and licked me on the face to make sure I was alright.
I miss that little girl.
People will forget what you said... and people will forget what you did... but people will never forget how you made them feel.
funny story, i have the same problem when/if my chihauhau gets out and thinks she's free...cant catch her for anything. got a new aussie pup and the other day we opened the gate in the back yard and my little dog saw a chance to bolt and she takes off out the gate and starts towards the road...little did she know that aussie's tend to NOT like things to run away and Roscoe(my aussie) takes off and catches up to her. gets in front of her and starts to work her back towards the gate. It gave my wife enough time to run out and pick her up and get back in the fence. I honestly think roscoe would have put her back in the fence had my wife not gone out and picked her up.

I should have goten a herder instead of a mouser. Mousers will chase anything for as far as they can.

Is that something or what for another animal to be protective of the little ones, this is why we feel like our animals are Humans (or at least I did)
[quote="Lefty"]Yeah, I'm doing good. Laughter is the best medicine. I was rolling when my daughter yelled to her mother that I was in trouble for playing in puddles.
No aches or pains, and slept very good that night. ]
