business flash redone, please share your opinions!

Post by zooner »

First, many thanks to izzo, tao_jones, knightmare, brembo, cyberskye and porkchop.

Huge thanks to chemgeek for offering to help on the project and to FunK to suggesting swishmax. I ended up purchasing swishmax because I liked it so much.

here's a link to the final product:

Here's a link to my first attempt:

http://www.weddingtowebsite.com/wed2web.swf

Please share any thoughts you might have. I've enjoyed working on getting this project ready to launch and figuring out the schematics of how everything was going to work. It's time to begin a real marketing campaign.

huh?????

Back to the topic.. I'm confused. Is this a site for people (ie relatives and friends) can go view the pictures of a wedding? If so, I would suggest either removing the watermark or making it transparant gray and at the bottom of the pictures. It is very annoying in the center and takes away from viewing the pictures.
I know you are, but what am I?

This is meant to be a tool for professional photographers to display thier wedding proofs. I believe these watermarks have to be so pronounced to protect the images from being printed. I do use a high level of compression. However, they can still be printed and look semi-decent. Originally, I was going to have a tiled watermark.

Most wedding photographers don't bother with a watermark. They just make the images VERY small.

dave, I'll PM you later today. sorry for the delay, rather forgetful.

I know this seems like a no-brainer, but you really need to cater to the lowest common denominator here, I would suggest maybe putting a notation at the bottom of every picture that the actual quality of the photo is much higher than the image that is being diplayed. I know for a fact that my mom would look at them and say "but its soo blurry, i dont want to buy pictures that are so BLURRY!"

that'd be a VERY GOOD IDEA. very good idea. VERY, VERY GOOD idea.

I'm going to use it. Thank you blisster!! I'll be redoing the pictures later today.

I let ya know my opinion, but you can't ship human excrement via mail :D

Looks good zooner. Along the lines f blissters idea, might want to link to one high res image(watermark the snot out of it) so people can see what the real deal will look like.

so the best of my opinion, nobody offers the same service that I do. While some might put the pictures online, they fall short for two reasons. First, the images are usually tiny. Instead of compressing them, they run them small. Second, they rarely put ALL the pictures up. Third, for a web novice the website is usually difficult to find and share with others. Often they're linked off a photographers page.

much easier to share your wedding's website by refering them to a simple .com address.

please correct me if I'm wrong.

no music, period. I agree.

Most of my sales pitch is done over the phone and via usps. This is a reference point so that they can fully understand what I'm offering.

I do want to add a small hyperlink to the bottom, so people can skip the flash if they want.

I followed your suggestion and added an option to skip the flash altogether.

much better. sorry if im being critical but I think it might help you out and you did say anything so.

could you move the skip this flash down more. because at some points, it looks like the text is cramped because the skip this flash intro is so close to the text.

sorta like this:

I could make the flash bigger to accomplish that. right now, i have it hugging the bottom the whole way through.
