Internet connection gradually slows down ... trying to isolate why

I have a broadband connection at home.

The modem I am using is Speedstream 5100 Ethernet ADSL modem. The speed of the connection goes from its top speed and over the period of 24 hours gradually slows to that of a regualr 56 kps modem.

When I re-set the modem, it starts again from its top speed, but 24 hours later its slow again.

Any ideas how to isolate the reason for this? It could of course be the modem itself (although I don't know why it should work and then continually slow down eah time). Is there some way the cahe of web pages visited over 24 hours builds up somewhere causing the connection speed to decline? or any other ideas?

I am using Windows XP Pro, if thats importnat.

Thanks.

Repair it. go to start
programs
accesories
communications
Network Connections
Click on your internet connection
go to support and click repair
then restart your modem and maybe that will solve your problem
