I am a basic techie at my school. We have wireless access but I was hell of a time getting one of the student's wireless to work.
It has a Atheros AR5001X+ chip for built-in wireless access. Sometimes it loads the page and sometimes it doesn't. It seems really unstable. The connection from his ether port is also very slow too. I have updated the driver but it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?
thanks

You'll see a few posts/complaints in the wireless forum about the Toshi's with Atheros wireless chipsets. I can't stand them, I think I'm at the point where I'll walk away from ever trying to work with them again. There seems to be nothing consistant about them except headaches. Sometimes it'll only work with the custom 3rd party utility with the Windows wireless config disabled, other times it'll only work with the Windows wireless config and not the 3rd party. I've not found any magic trick to getting them to work, only a deep desired to pick up any Atheros based Toshi over my head and smash it down on the floor.
Quick fix? Snag some PCMCIA or USB based wireless NIC, and disable the Atheros in the systems BIOS.
