i got a pvr-250 and love it..though i admit it can take a bit to get all settings work and it is picky but once you get it to work it rocks and looks really good.
you dont need a high end vid card, since it is all done through the pvr

concur.
I'd be thinking that onboard would be enough for your purpose.

Dunno what CPU u were planning on but theres a no cpu and old cpu mobo.
I said no VIA cuz Nvidia can beat them on memory bandwith.
Both mobos also have built in video too.

im just gonna use an Athlon xp2800 probably.
how about this vid card.
http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6814133138
this rig is only going to be a pvr and mp3 player.
entertainment pc only.
no games
i am totally open to suggestions here.
i like the ECS board you linked to YOS but im using an athlon i have here.
the abit isnt micro...wont fit in the case i picked out.
and hsould i just forget going to micro atx?
is it more of a headache than its worth?.....worrying if everything will fit with out interfering with other parts.
should i just go ATX?

Micro isnt a big heachace, I've got a SFF shuttle as a PVR/DVR box I like it.
that mobo is micro and has video, seriously dont look at these expensive video cards if its jsut a home made tivo and mp3 player.

I have the LiteOn appliance - very nice @ $160 @ compusa. Much more quiet than the shuttle I was using previously.

http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... 6813135191
and a 1 gig corsair value sel dual channel pair.
gonna put a sound balster audigy zs2 in it anf the win-tv pvr 350.
gonna have a 36gig raptor for the os to live on and got 2 seagate 300 gig sata drives for it.
going to stripe them.
how much usable space will that work out to after a format?
about 550gig?
gawd......i remember getting my 2.5gig quantum fireball hdd in my 166mhz cyrix rig with a massive 32mb of ram.
lol
pretty stoked to get the parts and bring it to life.

Looks good amp
I'm running the Aud 2 in my media PC, works great, but i've heard great things about the M-AUDIO REVOLUTION 7.1 PCI SOUND CARD 24BIT/96KHZ W/ DIGITAL OUT
or M-AUDIO AUDIOPHILE 2496
The M Audio is supposed to be a bit better at audio playback and the revo is a bit cheaper then the Aud 2
I'm also running the 9800 pro all in wonder, so far so good
The Micro Form factor is nice, HTPC cases are a bit cheaper then the HTPC cases for ATX.
Still saving for my HTPC case, I'll get it some day.....lol

min requiremnet to run media center is a SVGA card, doesnt even list the need for ram on it.
