Hello, newbie here, so be patient please.

Win XP Home edition + sp2

Whenever I launch Outlook Express to check my email the program downloads the mail okay, but the hourglass just sits there like it's doing something, but nothing happens. I have to close it and launch it again to see and read my email. Sometime when I have it open and I come back to it from doing something else the screen appears to be all in pieces and all I can do is close it and launch it again.

I've removed it and reinstalled it, but it appears that something else is causing the problem.I have also tried removing my firewall and spam filter, but the problem remains.

Any clues as to what is causing this and how to go about fixing it?

Sometimes when Outlook Express blows up, it's related to the .DBX files which is what it stores your mail folders in. When it's open, right click something like your Inbox, select properties...you'll see the long path.

If you don't have any mail that you'll miss....find that path, the directory...and with OE closed...delete all of the DBX files. Any mail that you had will be gone. Launch OE again, it will create fresh new DBX files.
