DSL phone line problems

I recently subscribed to the Pro Package from SBC Yahoo DSL(1.5MB - 3MB).
They told me over the phone that it would be active on Jan 14,2005, but I haven't noticed any speed, and when I tried calling, they said my modem would get out of sync if it went over 1.5MBs. But prior to the upgrade to the propackage, they it was available and it would work, so I agreed to sign up for it, but how is it all of a sudden it goes out of sync when they ran tests before the initial upgrade. They told me they were going to send an ASI tech, but they didn't give me any numbers to contact or a troubleshooting ticket. Since I signed a contract with SBC, I do not want to cancel the DSL, but I also do not want to be recieving 327kbps when I should be recieveing 4x-10x more. Any soultions where I can try to fix this myself?
