ok i been going round with a guy over at dslreports about his bogus rwin setting for 3000/256 cable
his setting is 32767 he reports any other setting causes his speed to be reduced to 1.5-2.5meg not 3meg thats not possible btw.
now i tried explaining to him that his rwin needs to be a multiple of his mss in order for it to even work. otherwise it get defualted to either windows defualt or the next selectable scalable integer of the mss. i forget what it is
he keeps telling me that rwin is the only one that works.
and i keep telling him to come here and do some learning.
now he shows me this link
http://cable-dsl.home.att.net/#Security
you dont have to scroll down very far to see a white box with this cat's recommendations for rwin value's for the different OS's.
and he has a low latency and a high latency setting.
im not sure where this guy gets his info but since the low latency rwin is not even a value of the mss im not sure how he expects to improve anything.
he also states that adjusting the TTL wont improve speeds. no but it sure as hell will lower your speeds if you use the wrong setting.
someone help me out here is my thinking totally fubar'd or is this guy using the goofy rwin smokin some serious weed ?
