Ended up following Zooner's lead and grabbing one of the Leadtek 6800GT's. Should be here later this week hopefully. My 9700 pro has served me very well and was by far the best card ive ever owned to date. It was nice to actually be able to use antialiasing and enjoy it without severe lagg. I've had it for nearly 2 years and it still handles most games very well. But it was time for a bit more juice and i think this leadtek version will suit my needs adequately.

oh well. :(

I've been running poe at 1024x768 aax8 afx16. It'll also handle 1600x1200 aax2 afx4. It might even go higher, but I wasnt skipping any frames at those settings.

i have the following system:

Pentium 200 MMX Passive Heatsink

Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 4mb
Sound Blaster
Windows 95 OSR2

Battlefield Vietnam works but is slow. Any tweaks or hacks to get it moving?

You might want to try adding a Diamond Monster 3d to that setup. Or if you are feeling saucy you could even go with a diamond Monster 3d 2.

The new card came in, ran drivercleaner 3 and got rid of all the ati driver residue. installed without a hitch so far. havent had a chance to play with it much but the desktop display on my lcd @1600x1200 is at least equal to that of my radeon 9700 pro which im happy about.

I forgot about the easy o/c featur on this card and grapped the latest drivers from nvidia.com. Do you think i should be able to install the o/c feature off the cd without problems?

you dont need to. there is a SIMPLE registry hack which enables coolbits, something I learned after I purchased it.

http://oc3dmark.octeams.com/tip02.html

that's all ya gotta do. it'll even find the highest stable OC for you, although it takes about 3 minutes to do it.

there is the tweak as a downloadable file.

a fellow was selling them on ebay new for $380 (plus 15 for shipping). I was hit with NYS sales tax, so I paid 430.

I believe newegg is selling the leadtek for $420, but they weren't in stock at the time.

Is that in Hexidecimal or Decimal modification? I haven't used this hack in awhile. I also used to use "Powerstrip" by EnTech Taiwan due to it's profile configuration modes, had an overclock profile for every game I played with just one click.

btw, just ran 3dmark 2k3 and scored 11k at default speeds and my old windows install. quit running 3dmark2k5 as the games looked like a slide show so what's the purpose.

congrats loop, i am in the want of a new card as well, my 9700pro has served me for some time as well.

i am forcing myself to wait for HL-2 to come out to decide between ATI an nvidia this time, but it is getting harder to wait each time i hear the rave reveiws from those 6800GT cards.
