Fixing the newest Firefox/Mozilla pop-up exploits

Post by Joe »

A number of sites are using scripts etc to bypass mozilla's built in pop-up blocking ability. To fix this issue install the plugin Adblock via mozDev. Once installed point to TOOLS->Adblock-> view all blockable elements after the popup has occured.. through a process of deduction find the source of plugin (ussually a java script) and add it as a filter. i generally only add the root url as the script location is subject to change.]

Download Adblock

To see what I mean run this pop-up test and see that even the latest 0.9.3 release of firefox fails atleast tests 12 and 13

I hope this helps atleast a few people.. it annoyed me for a week

Thanks a million,
I've been wondering what's been going on with that - thought I wasn't configuring things properly!!! :rotfl:

Actually its not.. Most ADS on your screen pop-up and ad block sees them placing a ad block button next to them so you simply have to click it and its gone forever.. as for my method stated once you try it you will see its rather easy even for a non nerd. :)

I can vouch for the non-nerd aspect of that! :thumb:
