firewall question

hello everyone
im new to computers and recently installed sygate firewall--has anyone ever used this --anyway a couple of times yesterday it flashed red and i clicked on it and the log came up and i did a backtrace and clicked whois and it said something about aol--so what does this mean?aol is my internet provider.the message said--they were scanning 6 of my ports,anyone understand?

It's the firewall letting you know that it picked up a port scan on your WAN IP. Welcome to the internet, it's something that happens all the time.

ands it's also something that will grab you if you don't put it into perspective, Rita.
Sygate is up running and doing it's job. That's all you should worry about. Don't worry what or who is being blocked, only that they are. Don't worry too much about the logs. They breed a disease called paranoia and trust me, you don't need it.
