Never heard of aluminum wiring on a phone line.
Was used till early 70s for electric lines.
If you have aluminum wiring on your phone line, yes it will hurt.
I could give you a big math lesson on this, but I am tired.

DSL needs POTS (PlainOldTelephoneService) - Old fashioned copper, my friend.

A buddy of mine couldn't get DSL because his neighborhood onlyt offered fiber to the home - no POTS. He could get 10Mbs bidirectional for the same money, however - he did still complain.
anything is possible - nothing is free
