like when you rev your car engine then it stops after a while ( 20 min) then it may do it again.
sounds sick wonder if its the pwr supply or the fan thats causeing the prb. wonder if i should replace it?

When my HSF started getting noisy I noticed that it's RPM was fluctuating quite a bit. I oiled the bearings but it didn't last long. In the end I just replaced it, problem solved.

this started just recently?
some HSFs have a built in temp monitor and will speed up if the proc gets hot past a certain point..

I had that problem. The culprit was my northbridge fan. It would rev for about a minute after a cold boot then settle back down to its normal operating sound. Overtime, it got worse and worse until the revving would not stop. I took it out and gave it a couple shots of WD-40 and that fixed it. On my current computer, I hear the rev again everytime I cold boot (after leaving the computer off for the night). It lasts about a minute then stops. I have not bothered to fix it until it gets worse - if it ever does. For what it's worth, both the revving fans were/are Abit stock northbridge fans.
