X-Box or PS2
X-Box or PS2
I'm thinking about getting my kids (and me) either an X-Box or PlayStation2 for x-mas. IYHO, which is better? Both appear to cost about the same. My kids are 7, 10, 34 (me). Thanks for your feedback.
I was torn between the same two myself...I ended up going with the playstation because the games that my kids wanted were on the playstation...

I think there both a solid system. As Indy stated, look at the types of games your going to get and see which system has more of what you like. I have both and think they each are awesome in there own ways.
Both can go online but xbox cost money if you want xbox live. There are other ways of playing with xbox for free but there not as good as live. I have never had any lag on xbox live. I also play ps2 online lag free. Playstation 2 has two versions, one that comes with ethernet and one you have to buy seperatly.

My Answer:Xbox
Reason(s):The Xbox live system is much more developed and stable then the online capabilities of PS2. It has games for all ages, lots of shooting, sports and adventure games that you could all play together. Ive had mine since last Christmas and love it...Im hoping to get Madden 2004 for christmas...check out the games at the xbox website or EB Games.com
Merry Christmas!!

i don't have either
but speaking from a pc gamers perspective, if your pc is pretty fast and is great at pc games, then you may not need the x-box, in that situation i'd prolly go for the ps2
but if your pc isn't fast enough, an x-box is nice, i've played on one, it has Halo, if your kids or you get into that, which the ps2 don't have
its a tough choice, great games on both platforms
i guess like the others have said, see what games you want to play and get whichever console fits that
or like some people do, get both consoles

Both are excellent systems. One thing to consider is this however; Playstation is nearing the end of its creative/developemental arc and Xbox is really just coming into its "adulthood" as a gaming system. The latest generation of games is so much better than (graphically at least) the earlier games and we're starting to see some good RPG's on the Xbox (finally!) like Knights of the Old Republic, Baldurs Gate II and Sudeki, which ships in march.
you'll be happy with either, my preference is the Xbox.
