Anybody using netscape...

or is it still holding up its legacy of the slow tragedy that it is?

I use SlimBrowser now.... based off IE so all the webpages appear properly, popup blocker built in, it also blocks all other controls if you wish - active x, scripts, java, etc. All at your request. Oh yea its also faster than IE, with native IE support for all programs that are IE based.

Mozilla and netscape are virtually the same under the hood...

"what's the best xxx for yyy" type questions need to be qualified.

What's the fastest? Which has the most robust featureset? Which has had the most exploits and is so tightly integrated with the OS that those same exploits can comprimise your whole system?

You'd get two different answers to the above.

What's the best for what, exactly?

I use IE6x in Windows because it's the dasters browser and has the most DHTML support.

In Linux I like to use either Konquerer or Dillo.

IE6

I think the only reason why i dont use Mozilla is because something with my mousewheel. Like i couldnt hold it down and scroll which got to be annoying.

If you use IE, I suggest looking at Slimbrowser, has everything IE has, but more features. Everything Mozilla, Opera have, but even programs like Window Washer register Slimbrowser as IE.

I mostly use IE6. I use Netscape and Opera for 'browsing' websites that contain 'a particular type of video content'.

Hey shilly MozillaFirebird is the best hands down. I have tried most all of the browsers out there and Firebird is FAST, safe and loaded with features. It is not a "skin" for IE like a lot of others, the latest version was just released, I HIGHLY recommend it, try it and see.

The latest IE, lately with Google Toolbar. Has been just plain "zero issues" since, oh, IE 4.

Prior to that, I used Nutscrape, but once they changed their engine after 4.62 or whatever, went downhill IMHO.

FYI
Slim Browaer IS IE. It's nothing more than a hacked IE using IEAK and some other goodies. It does have lot's of useful features if you want them. It will not function on a computer if IE is not installed, and prefers IE5x or above.

I use Firebird 0.7 as well, but I use Slimbrowser more, because

1. Everything shows up the way it was meant to .

2. Firebird, and the other Mozilla based browsers, cant run lots and lots of java apps that only run on IE, not to mention Windows Update, various online scans, lots more.

Dont get me wrong though, Firebird is a GREAT browser. I am using it as I speak.
