Comcast Upping their speeds in Michigan

Just got off the phone with customer support. I was seeing if they would price match Wideopenwest. WOW is offering 3meg down for 59.99 a month. Comcast as you all know charges 99.99 a month for that speed. Any way the rep that I spoke to said they could not price match at this time, but Comcast would be increasing their speed from 1.5 to 3 meg within in the next 30 to 60 days.
I have had no trouble since I have had Comcast so I will have to wait and see. Just thought everyone would like to know about the speed increase.

Yep, pretty much going that way company wide by the end of the year, from what I've heard...

Boy I sure hope Charter follows their lead on this...right now us Charter people are getting a free upgrade to 2Mbit down (still only 128 up) until March of 2004 they claim. Hopefully they'll continue to give us decent speeds...
I'm REALLY getting addicted to speed here...they don't even offer a 2mbit down plan..the most is 1.5 for $60/month which is a bunch of crap if you ask me...

Well after my call to Comcast last night I came home to a 3 meg surprise. Yes my speed test at dslreports showed 3123 down. I am guessing they do not want to loose customers to WOW and increased mine to keep me. Like they said everyone should be at 3 meg within 60 days. Proof a phone call never hurts.

Comcast upload isnt changing, still gonna be 256. WOW offers a 512 upload and your actual d/l will be around 3500kbps. When you get WOW for cable as well the price for the ultra package with cable will be around 72.00 a month. That puts it at 30.00 for basic cable and 42.00 for ultra. IMHO thats still a way better deal. If I were you I would at least check it out for a month or two. You will be very pleased.

I know the deal sounds good and the price is right but I have a few friends who say they have had nothing but trouble with WOW.

I will admit in the beginning they had problems just like everyone does at first, but they have matured alot and its been great. This is what I get at any time of day everyday. But to each there own I guess.

Your download speed : 3525094 bps, or 3525 kbps.
A 430.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 539374 bps, or 539 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
