when testing
And downloading was 107.kb/s

ok ya got 1000 which would put 107 at 85.6% of max now the other # 392.8 where did ya get that at ?? what site??
that would make you 3136 ok so is ntl cable or dsl ??
I should let ya know I have mine running at 96% most of the time but Im not the one who normally helps all these people out But if ya want me to Ill give ya as much of a hand as i can until mnosteele52 or someone else comes aboard I just wanted to let ya know in advance k

ok on the bandwidthplace one k which one was itthe top or the middle ??
EG.
Communications
2.2 megabits per second AKA.2200kbps
How communication devices are rated. Kilo means 1,000 and mega means 1,000,000. Examples include 56k modem and 10Mbit Ethernet
Storage
273.8 kilobytes per second
The way data is measured on your hard drive and how file sharing and FTP programs measure transfer speeds. Kilo is 1,024 and mega is 1,048,576.
1MB file download
3.7 seconds
The time it would take you to download a 1 megabyte file at this speed.
and your speed it 1.megabit correct Ill help ya

ok give this a shot and see if it works go to mnosteeles my tips
https://www.speedguide.net/forums/ ... adid=73799
Then do like he says with the spy ware and the add ware then get cable nut and the upgrade in the upgrade use the css that is your os and closest to your connection speed save it to registry reboot and re try the tests to see if ya got better.
doesn't take that long and dont forget to empty your temporarie internet files and your cookies before each test
let me know if ya get into a bind and of course how it turns out
(me I use the css that is one setting higher than what my caps are and it seems to work the best for me)

read the post he put there. I can not explain it anybetter than he has sorry.
he,
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 1:15 pm
by Chris44
He didnt explain good enough because weh i search anf found, i deleted and some was Sys32. Kazaa. When i quarantined them, i got serious errors and had to re install kazaa
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 1:21 pm
by Chris44
Now my maximum bandwith on kazaa is 141. you could of eplained but u chose not to ,
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 1:27 pm
by j79zlr
KaZaA is a serious error

, you should use
KaZaLite same thing as KaZaA minus spyware.
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 2:08 pm
by Mopwr2u1
I am sorry but the process is maybe a little to complicated for you cause i am unable to top his explanation na dya need to not worry about kazaa or any other file programs bandwidth ya need to get your computer upto optimal using the tools and sites for testing and one of those tool is to know what your isp caps are and to run some of the speed tests to see if ya may be at full speed with the file transfer priograms ya may have real good download but ya can only download as fast as the other person is uploading it to ya
im sorry

by Chris44
im sorry, its just , My friend had someone explain and he is downloading at 766kbs, im really stuck, the spy ware, is all bloked, All i need help with is the stats. Can you please explain were i input them
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 2:39 pm
by Mopwr2u1
ok what stats are ya talking abou excactly?? are ya talking about the cable nut one .css
??if so its got a button says save to registry. All ya have to do then is reboot and your good to go. and by the way I went a looked at the first post again,Ive been on a lot of them from winmx to here to having to nurse my rig to serious condition from comatose. and your TCP/IP anylizer settings look good but try the cablenut .css for your isp caps and then try the one the next step higher test speed at those 2 links I gave ya earlier and well see how it goes k

Chris44 do the following:
Download the
TCP Optimizer and try the following settings.
Settings tab:
select - cable modem
check - custom settings
network adapter selection - your NIC
check modify all adapters
maxmtu - 1500
TTL - 62
TCP Receive Window - 17520 or 32120 (try both)
MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 3
TCP 1323 Options - uncheck both boxes
Other Settings tab:
Max Connections per Server - 8
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 10
Lan Browsing Speedup - optimized
Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect.
VERY IMPORTANT TO DO THE FOLLOWING
1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.
2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections - LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.
3. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my
Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
4. Clear your temporary internet files.
5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.
6. Download and update then do a scan with
SpyBot 1.2 &
Ad Aware 6.0 to remove any spyware then install and update
SpywareBlaster 1.2 to stay spyware FREE.
It is an ABSOLUTE MUST that you use BOTH Ad Aware 6.0 & SpyBot 1.2, don't think you are safe with just one of these apps since one will find what the other misses.
7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in my
Help & Tips link.

thanks, Some features are at my disadvanagtage,
I do not have the router in front of me, the router is on my brothers Computer.
So when i change the duplex, This NIC is disabled.
Please help me to get godly download speeds.

OK then just leave your duplex mode set to auto, what settings are you using now and what speeds are you getting? Please post a TCP/IP Analyzer test.

Then leave your settings exactly as they are when you donwloaded that file, that is over 90% of your caps and you won't get any better.

thanks,

Thanks but can u still try and find out some stats to help ,
Becasue im on 1 mega byte, My friend is on 512k and h downloads at 400?
Whats is caps?
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 7:17 pm
by mnosteele52
Your friend or you is confused

. When you download a file it is shown in kilobytes per second but your speed is advertised from your ISP in kilobits per second. There are 8 bits in 1 byte, in other words if you are dowloading at 120 kilobytes per second then that equals 960 kilobits per second and your caps are 1000 kilobits per second...... that is ALL you are going to get and that is great..... as I said you are tweaked perfect, leave things alone.

Now im Confused,
My Adversised speed is 1000k,
Which mean 1megabyte?
120/kbs is poor to speeds ive seen,
my friends on 512k bb , downloads at 400

Please help me

The cap of my Connection is one mbit. Is this any help?
Posted: Sun May 11, 2003 8:17 pm
by j79zlr
1000kilobits = 125 kilobytes
512kilobits = 64 kilobytes
Connections are advertised as kilobits per second, IE shows your download in kilobytes per second. Sooooo, if you are getting 120kB/s, then you are getting 960kbps. Very good speeds for a 1mbit connection.
Your friend is an idiot, he cannot get speeds that fast with a 512. He is either mistaken on his connection speed or on how to read it.
This is gay

Rite, I payed for a 1mbit Connection, This is supposed to make me go at 1000 KILA bytes per second, But i got 125, I gained 10 Kbps

No my connection should be 10000bits, No 1000,
